CFHS Volleyball FAQ 2018

Information:  Email: CFHSLFVBC@GMAIL.COM

SUMMER:

OPEN GYM: Open gyms will begin every Tuesday and Thursday from 7-9PM beginning on July 10th with our last open gym August 2nd. There is no need to register for anything or sign up, it is an opportunity to get into the gym over the summer and work with the coaches, play and meet other players in the program.

SCHOOL SEASON:

Physicals: All athletes are required to turn in physicals before volleyball tryouts, or your daughter won’t be able to try out for the CFHS team. There’s a packet of Athletic Forms that need to be turned in at the end of July into the Athletic Director’s office (House 2 desk) BEFORE tryouts. You can find the packet here: http://cfhs.cfsd16.org/index.php/activities-sports/athletics/physical-packet

After tryouts, a program-wide parent/athlete meeting will be scheduled. Lots of important information will be shared, including the play schedule. Attendance is highly encouraged.

Practices: All practices are mandatory, even during school breaks. Individual game playtime is affected by missed practices. Due to AIA recruiting rules, no student shall wear “club” affiliated attire during practices. The volleyball program will provide two practice shirts. Each athlete needs to provide kneepads, black spandex and athletic or volleyball shoes. The school will provide a jersey top that will be turned in after each game to be laundered by the athletic department. There will also be fan/spirit wear for sale.

Payment Athletes no longer need to pay the athletic fee before they try out.  However, once your daughter is accepted onto the team, please go into In-Touch and pay the participation fee. The fees go towards coaching staff, transportation, and facilities. Athletes won’t be allowed to play until the program fee is paid: https://az-catalinafoothills.intouchreceipting.com/

Grades: All student athletes must maintain passing grades. This means athletes with a grade below a C- will be benched until their grades can be raised.

Carpool Release: If you want your daughter to drive with anyone to/from games outside of the school bus, you need to fill out a release that is located with the Athletic Director’s assistant in House 2 (front desk).

VOLUNTEER: Helping is essential to the success of this program. You will be guided on all the different roles.

  • Booster Board: The bylaws require that there is a President, Treasurer and Secretary.
Snack Bar Coordinator: Organize volunteers and food stock. UNFILLED
Snack Bar Helpers: Rotations are required as this is a fundraiser for the program.  Tip: sign up for a shift when your daughter isn’t playing.  Coach Thiltges likes all teams to stay and watch all teams play (freshman, junior varsity, varsity). You are encouraged during home games to utilize the offerings of the snack bar instead of bringing snacks.
Team Rep: Organize team bonding(s), liaison of information, coordinate game day snacks, etc. * Need one for each level: Freshman, JV, Varsity (Varsity filled)
Game Snacks: All parents will sign up to bring snacks for away games. The team rep will send around a sign up.
End-of-Year Banquet: Interested in throwing a party? This is the job to volunteer for then!
Photos: Interested in photography? We need a parent or multiple parents to take photos throughout the season and compile them for a slideshow and take-home disc. This task can be shared with other parents.
